Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List

The best and worst tank heroes to win your competitive games are listed in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list.

If you are trying to climb the ranks in Overwatch 2 Season 6, you may be wondering which tank hero you should pick to increase your odds of winning your matches. In our Overwatch 2 tank tier list, you will find the best and worst tank heroes to play in Overwatch 2 Season 6, with tips and tricks to win your games.

Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List S-Tier Heroes

Heroes from the S-tier section of our Overwatch 2 Season 6 tank tier list are the best ones to play to win your competitive games this season.

D.Va

With the release of Season 6, Overwatch 2 developers brought a much-needed change to D.Va’s survivability. When her mech got destroyed, there was a short period where the pilot could be damaged or even killed before her player had full control over the character, meaning D.Va could die and there was nothing anyone could do to prevent it. With the Overwatch 2 Season 6 patch notes, Blizzard fixed this by making D.Va immune to damage for 0.4 seconds while ejecting from her mech. Moreover, the cooldown from her Boosters was reduced from 4 to 3.5 seconds, slightly improving her mobility.

Junker Queen

Junker Queen is among the best heroes to win games in Overwatch 2 ever since the buff she received in May 2023, boosting her offensive abilities and self-healing to help her survive longer on the front line. The release of Overwatch 2 Season 5 reduced the temporary health granted by her Commanding Shout and increased the cost of her ultimate, but Junker Queen remains a reliable hero to play in competitive games.

Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List A-Tier Heroes

Heroes from the A-tier part of our Overwatch 2 Season 6 tank tier list are well-balanced, although not overpowered. These heroes have everything it takes to win competitive games if you know how to play them properly.

Zarya

With the new meta coming with the start of Season 6, Zarya gains a few places in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list. She is a great hero to play with fast-paced characters like Genji or Tracer, allowing them to attack the enemy team and fall back to safety with Zarya’s Projected Barrier. Moreover, combining her Graviton Surge with a DPS ultimate can kill an entire team, making her a real threat on the battlefield.

Ramattra

Ramattra was among the best tank heroes to play in Overwatch 2 Season 5, so he got slightly nerfed with the release of Season 6. The cost of his ultimate ability, Annihilation, goes up by 12%, so he cannot launch his deadly swarm as often as he used to. His survivability gets somewhat better though, with his Block ability reducing damage from all stuck projectiles, no matter where they come from.

Winston

Winston is a good hero to disrupt the enemy team, jumping to their backline to attack support heroes before coming back to safety. The Overwatch 2 Season 6 patch notes bring some changes to the charge and recovery time of his Tesla Cannon, so it gets more responsive to kill low-health enemies but at the cost of a longer charging time. The Tesla Cannon’s secondary fire charge time was reduced from 1.2 to 1 second, with its recovery time increased from 0.5 to 0.75 seconds.

Sigma

Sigma is a good tank to play in Overwatch 2 thanks to his versatile kit and adaptive playstyle. The release of Season 6 slightly changes the way he moves to make it more coherent to other heroes, allowing players to stop faster than before without having Sigma floating in the air longer than he should be. Sigma is now easier to control, with the same kit as before, making him even more reliable than before although not overpowered.

Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List B-Tier Heroes

B-tier heroes aren’t in their best shape but remain useful in specific situations – or in the right hands.

Orisa

Orisa is a reliable tank hero to play in most situations, and the recent release of Season 6 continues to improve her efficiency in battle. Her Fortify grants a bigger health bonus than before to make up for the change to how ability damage reduction interacts with armor damage reduction, so it keeps the same advantage as before. Her primary weapon, the Augmented Fusion Driver, has a longer range than it used to so she can deal more damage to enemies who are not close to her. However, her lack of mobility prevents Orisa from reaching the higher tiers of our Overwatch 2 tank tier list.

Doomfist

It looks like Overwatch 2 developers realized Doomfist wasn’t in his best shape for the past few seasons, with more deaths and less utility than other tanks from the Overwatch 2 tank tier list. They decided to increase his mobility by reducing the cooldown of his Seismic Slam from 7 to 6 seconds, and his survivability got a boost thanks to a small tweak to Power Block, which now reduces damage from stuck projectiles no matter the direction they come from.

Wrecking Ball

Wrecking Ball is one of the most controversial heroes. Having one on your team often either means the enemy supports will have a bad time, or that you will play as 4v5 most of the time with little to no help from the hamster. When played properly, Wrecking Ball can have a massive impact on a game, peeling for support heroes and harassing enemies to wreak havoc and allow teammates to push forward against a disorganized enemy team.

Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List Meh-Tier Heroes

Heroes from this section of our Overwatch 2 tank tier list are not the best to pick if you want to easily win your games. The current meta isn’t in their favor, and they are often less powerful than heroes from the S-tier. However, if your main is on this list and you have experience playing them, it could be still worth a shot: it’s always better to master an unbalanced hero than picking a brand new one in the middle of a competitive match.

Reinhardt

Reinhardt is a staple hero when players want to play tank, with his large shield and health pool allowing him to push forward while protecting his teammates. However, the recent metas weren’t in his favor, as diving heroes able to secure kills or disrupt enemy supports were better to win games in Overwatch 2. Blizzard recently increased Reinhardt’s Barrier Field maximum health, boosting it from 1,200 to 1,400 to help the tank hero keep his shield up longer than he used to. However, since the current meta favors flankers, Reinhardt loses some of his efficiency due to his lack of mobility to peel for his support teammates.

Roadhog

While Roadhog used to be one of the best tank heroes to play in Overwatch 2, his golden days are over. Blizzard nerfed his popular one-shot ability a while ago, preventing him from hooking a target and taking its life before the opponent could even react. His self-sustainability is quite powerful, but his large hitbox makes Roadhog an easy target for enemy heroes looking to charge their ultimate ability. Moreover, since Ana is reaching the higher ranks of our Overwatch 2 support tier list, Roadhog is more likely to be targeted by her Biotic Grenade, preventing him to restore his health and severely decreasing his survivability.
