WoW Patch 10.1.7 Class Changes

With patch 10.1.7 here, it's time to take a closer look at some of the patch 10.1.7 class changes.

It's a patch that goes a little short of class changes, but there are a few that we can take a look at. Amusingly, they all really focus on healing specs.

WoW Patch 10.1.7 Class Changes

Restoration Druid

First up is “Master Shapeshifter”, a new talent for Resto that will improve their effectiveness in other forms.

  • Bear Form – Ironfur grants 30% more armor and generates 2,500 mana.
  • Cat Form – Rip, Ferocious Bite, and Maim deal 60% more damage and generate 10,000 mana.  If cast with 5 combo points.
  • Moonkin Form – Wrath, Starfire, and Starsurge deal 30% more damage and generate 2,500 mana.

Another new talent will see Resto gain “Grove Guardians”. Summon a treant that will instantly cast Swiftment on your current target. Afterwards, the treant will periodically cast Nourish on that target or any close targets. The treant lasts 15 seconds and has three maximum targets. It will replace the spell Nourish.

Wild Synthesis has changed. If you spec the above Grove Guardians talent, Wild Synthesis will cause you treants to also cast Wild Growth when summoned.

Resto will have Deep Focus and Forest's Flow removed, while Embrace of the Dream is now just a 1-point talent and the healing is decreased by 20%.

Overall, Resto will also get a 6% healing nerf.

It looks like a fine list of changes. Bringing the overall healing down, while improving utility and adding a new fun talent to press.

Mistweaver Monk

Energizing Brew, a new talent. Your Mana Tea now channels 50% faster and generates 20% more mana.

Mana Tea has also been redesigned. Every 25,000 mana spent, gain one stack of Mana Tea, with a chance (equal to your critical strike chance) to generate one extra stack. Activate to consume one stack of Mana Tea per 0.5 seconds to restore 3,000 mana and reduce the mana cost of your spells by 50% for one second per stack of Mana Tea consumed after drinking. It can be cast while moving, but movement speed is reduced by 40% while channelling the spell.

Lifecycles has also been redesigned. Vivify has a 25% chance to cause your next Rising Sun Kick or Enveloping Mist to generate 1 stack of Mana Tea. Enveloping Mist and Rising Sun Kick have a 25% chance to cause your next Vivify to generate one stack of Mana Tea.

Mastery of Mist is now a baseline effect for Renewing Mist.

Spirit of the Crane has been removed.

A few tweaks for Mistweaver, nothing major, but some welcome changes.

Holy Paladin

Tower of Radiance has had a redesign. Holy Light and Flash of Light will now generate one Holy Power when used.

Priest

Angel's Mercy has had a redesign. It now reduces the cooldown on Desperate Prayer by twenty seconds.

Patch 10.1.7 Class Changes Thoughts

It's a fairly light patch overall. With just tweaks to the healing classes and very little else. With patch 10.2 PTR build likely to drop the same week we get 10.1.7, we expect to start seeing another round of major changes sooner rather than later.
