There are a couple of games that are as iconic as World of Warcraft so it’s no surprise that Blizzard’s legendary title has numerous fans. People like all sorts of things about the game, including the different World of Warcraft Characters.

When it comes down to Azeroth’s paragons, we can divide them into three big groups – Alliance, Horde, and Others. As the title of this article suggests, we will look at the World of Warcraft characters of the Alliance, so let’s dive in.

Archmage Khadgar – Human

People who’ve seen the World of Warcraft movie know that Archmage Khadgar is one of the most important people for the Alliance. He is one of the key World of Warcraft characters and is a wizard of the highest caliber.

Khadgar started as an apprentice of Guardian Medivh and had the utmost respect for him. However, he eventually found out about Medivh’s intentions to open a portal and invite the Horde, so Khadgar eventually stepped in and defeated his master.

Once he saved the Humans from the incoming danger, Archmage Khadgar helped construct the famous Nethergarde Keep.

Current Status – Alive in Dalaran

Velen – Draenei

Those familiar with the World of Warcraft gameplay have heard of Velen before. Some people may know him as the Ageless One, but everyone is aware that Velen was one of the most respected leaders of Argus. One of the most well-known World of Warcraft characters is famous in the game’s lore for refusing Sargeras’s offer to give his people immense power. Needless to say, the Dark Titan wasn’t happy, so he and his Burning Legion started hunting the Draenei. 

In order to save his people, Velent went to Draemnor, where they lived for many years. Sadly, the Bruning Legion eventually discovered them, and they had to fight for their survival.

Current Status – Alive in Exodar

Vindicator Maraad – Draenei

One of the World of Warcraft characters that all Draenei fans love is famous for his devotion to his people and the fact he defended them against the Burning Legion. The Paladin led the Alliance’s forces after he learned about Harrosh Hellscream’s plans. He was determined to fulfill his vow after failing to defend the draenei when they were attacked on Draenor. In fact, he barely survived this encounter.

Current Status – Alive in Talador

Vareesa Windrunner – High Elf

One of the interesting World of Warcraft characters you will find in the game is Vareesa Windrunner, a High Elf who is a sworn enemy of the Horde. People who’ve played the World of Warcraft expansions probably know that she’s the youngest sister of Alleria and Sylvanas. Following a deadly orcish invasion, most of her family was killed, and Quel’Thalas, her homeland, was ruined by the undead scourge.

Vareesa Windrunner is the one responsible for the Silver Covenant and she helped Jaina Proudmoore with the Kirin Thor Offensive. The latter was responsible for stopping the invasion of the Horde in Pandaria.

Tyrande Whisperwind – Night Elf

The Night Elves have fans following the World of Warcraft release date, so it’s no surprise that Tyrande Whisperwind is one of the most popular names in the game. She is among the World of Warcraft characters and is the “chosen by the goddess Elune” and grew up along Illidan and Malfurion. While she and Malfurion stood strong against the invading demons, Illidan had other plans. Ultimately, Tyrande and the rest defeated the traitor and imprisoned him.

Current Status – Alive in Darnassus

Malfurion Stormrage – Night Elf

No oen can deny that Malfurion Stormrage is one of the most popular World of Warcraft characters in the game. He is one of the protectors of his race and is one of the most important fighters against the Burning Legion. As mentioned, he fought side by side with Tyrande Whisperwind, who would become his future lover.

Even though Malfurion followed Ysera when she linked Nordrassil to the Emerald Dream, allowing all druids to explore it, Tyrande had to wake him up. There was danger on the horizon – The Third War. Malfurion was also the main one of the main characters in World of Warcraft, who stood up against Ragnaros's invasion.

Uther the Lightbringer – Human

Regardless of the World of Warcraft servers you are using, you will find a lot of paladins. However, when it comes down to the “paladin of all paladins”, Uther is in a league of his own and is one of the most popular World of Warcraft characters. 

Uther is often called the most visions knight of the Alliance and for a good reason. He was the first knight to get the paladin title, and he’s one of the founders of the Knights of the Silver Hand, together with Faol. Uther had a major role in the Second War and helped the rebuild of Stormwind City.

Sadly, things did not end well for Uther because he had to fight Arthans in Andorhal, and, sadly, he lost the battle. Today, you can find Uther’s statue at Stormwind’s cathedral.

Varian Wrynn – Human

Varian is among the famous World of Warcraft characters because he is Stormwind’s leader and the commander of the Alliance. King Wrynn has an interesting history because he survived the First War when his father died. He also had a role in Stormwind’s reconstruction, married Tiffin Ellerian, and had a son called Andruin.

The black dragon Onyxia kidnapped Varian and tried to separate his strength and resolve and his willpower in hopes of ruling Stormwind and using him as her puppet. However, things did not work out because Varian’s stronger half escaped.

King Wrynn is also responsible for his Lich King campaign and the fight against Deathwing.

Anduin Wrynn – Human

Anduin is among the World of Warcraft characters that is the heir to the Stormwind throne. In fact, he used to be the city’s king when his father was kidnapped, but things changed once the king returned. After that, Adruin focused more on spiritual matters and traveled throughout Azeroth. Interestingly, Anduin was responsible for Panadaria’s exploration because he led the campaign to explore the region.

Current Status – Alive in Stormwind Keep and Pandaria

Jaina Proudmoore – Human

This is the World of Warcraft character that almost everyone has heard of because Jaina Proudmoore is the leader of the Kirin Tor. She’s the daughter of Daelin Proudmoore and studied under Antonidas, Kirin Tor’s leader at the time in Dalaran.

Jaina did everything she could to prevent the spread of the plague, which resulted in The Third War. This was when she and Thrall, the warchief of the Horde at the time, decided to join forces and work against the Burning Legion.

Jaina Proudmoore is famous for being a peacemaker because she was devoted to improving the relationship between the Horde and the Alliance. That said, she was not happy with Garrosh Hellscream’s actions when he obliterated Theramore.

Moira Thaurissan – Dwarf

The last of the World of Warcraft characters of the Alliance we want to talk about is Moira Thaurissan. The child of Magni Bronzebeard was not involved in politics, but things changed after she fell in love with Dagran Thaurissan. However, she thought she was charmed by a spell and got a team to kill Thaurissan. She eventually realized this was not the case, but it was too late because the dwarf was dead.

Her father, King Magni, decided to undertake a ritual, but it went horribly wrong, resulting in him being frozen. This was when Moira stepped in and took the throne from her father.
