CDL Major 3 Qualifiers – Week 3; Day 3 Recap

Here’s all the action from Week 3; Day 3 of CDL Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League has returned following an eventful Major 2 in Boston. We come back to conclude CDL Major 3 Qualifiers this week, so here’s all the action from the final day of week three. With another four great matches, here’s everything that went down tonight as we closed out the final day of qualifiers before Major 3.

Seattle Surge 3-0 New York Subliners

Seattle Surge have continued to improve throughout Major 3 Qualifiers, finally looking to be at a competitive spot in the league. They began this series strong, taking a 250-181 Embassy Hotel victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Mack seems to be the X factor in this Seattle Surge squad, and he most definitely was in this map, putting up 31 kills and a 1.07 K/D. However, Hydra was the top slayer in the lobby, dropping 33 kills and a 1.38 K/D, being the only member of the New York Subliners to go positive in this map one.

Seattle Surge continued to dominate as they took a 6-2 Embassy Search and Destroy victory to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Pred topped the leaderboard here with 11 kills, while Sib was close behind with 7 kills, the majority coming with the sniper. Accuracy also continued to play well, and Seattle Surge looks to be in control of this series. Seattle Surge closed out the series with a 3-2 El Asilo Control to take the series in a sweep. Pred put up a massive performance here, dropping 40 big kills as Seattle Surge look like they could be back to their best heading into Major 3.

OpTic Texas 3-1 Atlanta FaZe

As always in a FaZe v OpTic matchup, the first map of the series was incredible. This Hotel Hardpoint went all the way, seeing OpTic Texas come away with a 250-247 victory. Dashy and Shotzzy topped the leaderboard on the side of OpTic Texas with 32 kills each, but it was a massive 41 kills from aBeZy that topped the leaderboard in total. OpTic Texas started the map strong, pulling away with a solid 60-point lead, but after a few breaks from Atlanta FaZe this map got a lot closer, but OpTic were able to close it out and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Atlanta FaZe tied the series 1-1 with a 6-3 El Asilo Search and Destroy victory to extend their Search and Destroy win streak to 12 maps in a row. Since Major 2, Atlanta FaZe have been completely dominant in Search and Destroy, and they continued that here as we moved into the Control. However, the Control was completely different, with OpTic Texas taking a quick and easy 3-0 victory on Hotel to give themselves a 2-1 lead in the series. This was a well-played map from the entire team that saw them push together and hold well, winning two offensive rounds in this map three victory.

OpTic Texas closed out the series with a 250-207 Mercado Hardpoint win to take it 3-1. Ghosty suffered on the side of OpTic Texas with just 10 kills in the map, and while OpTic started to throw away the game at times, they held on and clutched up when needed to take the map and the series, securing the winners bracket at their home Major 3.

Boston Breach 3-2 LA Thieves

Boston Breach came out with a dominant performance in the first map of this series with a 250-88 Hotel Hardpoint victory. If anyone doubted if Beans was good enough to be in the Call of Duty League, their doubts were silenced with a massive performance that saw him put up 34 kills in this map one, topping the leaderboard by 7 kills as Boston Breach took a 1-0 lead in the series. The LA Thieves tied the series 1-1 with a 6-4 Hotel Search and Destroy victory. Envoy and Kenny ran the show in this map, both putting up 9 kills as the LA Thieves came back from an early round deficit, levelling the series 1-1.

Boston Breach took a 2-1 lead in the series with a 3-0 El Asilo Control victory in map three. Boston looked exceptional in this map, with Nero completely dominating as he put up 27 kills in this map. Breach clutched up in the final moments of the third round to close out the map and put themselves on series point. However, the LA Thieves fought back, taking a surprising victory on a map four Hydro Hardpoint. This 250-217 victory saw them outslay tremendously, seeing every member of the LA Thieves go positive as we went the distance to a map five. Here, Boston Breach completely dominated. A 6-1 El Asilo Search and Destroy win saw Nero put up 8 kills and a 2.67 K/D as Boston Breach clutched up to take the series 3-2.
