The Champions of the 2022 Call of Duty League are playing in a dominant fashion again, getting back up after the Stage 3 Major. Kenneth “Kenny” Williams and his teammates have been a bit quiet as reigning Champs, but they got the Finals of the Stage 2 Major, only to be defeated by Atlanta FaZe – but now, payback time has arrived.

With a 4-1 finish in the Qualifiers, where they only lost to OpTic Texas and beat teams such as Seattle Surge and Minnesota RØKKR, they were already considered as a contender team. After knocking down RØKKR by beating them 3-1 (which could’ve been a 3-0 if not for the Minnesotan team clutching the last round of Expo Control) they solidified their place in the Upper Bracket but must face their greatest rival of the 2023 season.

Atlanta FaZe

The Tiny Terrors, Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat and McArthur “Cellium” Jovel have surprised everyone in the Qualifiers, and not in a positive way: they finished 6^th with a 3-2 scoreline, which is their weakest performance tied with the Stage 2 Major Qualifiers. But after the first half of Stage 2, they went on to win the whole thing, so their 6^th place finish in the Major 4 Qualifiers might be a good omen for the team.

That, along with the fact that SlasheR became a LiddiGOAT from a Liddicoat yesterday could put FaZe in the running for the title again. While Atlanta lost the first Hardpoint against Seattle Surge by 21 points, they won the SnD round 6-2, and with exceptional play from the high ground by SlasheR, they broke the spirits of Surge with a 3-0 victory on El Asilo Control, after which it was easy to get an over 100 points win in the second Hardpoint.

Los Angeles Thieves vs Atlanta FaZe Predictions

While both teams are in great form, I think that Atlanta FaZe has the edge in this matchup. While they lost to LAT in the Stage 3 Major Qualifiers, they beat them in the Stage 2 Major Finals 4-2, and 3-0-d them in the first round of the Stage 3 Major. Kenny and his team might have beaten FaZe in last season's Grand Final, but the Modern Warfare 2 era seems to be more of FaZe’s playground than the Vanguard year.
