Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – What We Know About It

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 took the stage thanks to an excellent presentation revealed yesterday. With the release of a trailer and the announcement of the news that will characterize this remake, fans of the series will be more than happy to discover everything that is new in this new chapter of the series.

Thanks to the work of the various development teams who are working on the project, we could relive again, twelve years after the original chapter, what is the adventure of Captain Price and Task Force 141, who find themselves facing the threat by Vladimir Makarov (played by Julian Kostov in this remake). Furthermore, this new chapter will serve to consolidate what has now been the formula used by Activision for several years, also making use of the recently announced Call of Duty HQ, a hub where you can have access to the various chapters of the series.

Without indulging much longer, we leave you to discover and read all the news that was officially confirmed during the presentation regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign

The campaign has always remained one of the strong points of the franchise. Although the series manages to remain so popular, especially for its multiplayer part (which we will talk about shortly), the campaign still represents an important element for fans today, so much so that all the chapters of the series have it, with the exception of one only experiment. Obviously, since it is a remake of a previous chapter, the Moder Warfare 3 campaign will resume that of its original chapter, although there still is some news.

Immediately after what happened in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Captain Price and his team, which also Yuri joins, rush into the pursuit of Makarov, who is trying to start a world war using several terrorist attacks in the West. This is, broadly speaking, what is told in the game, even if with all the possibilities of the case it is probable that in this remake the developers have taken licenses and have decided to expand/modify the narrative arc.

As we have seen in the two previous remakes, in fact, it was possible to act in the game with a certain level of freedom and with an apparent system of choices and consequences that will be re-proposed in the unpublished Open Combat missions. In this case, we will be called to make different choices, but we will be able to opt for different approaches based on our preferences, adopting a more stealth or a more action style.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer

Call of Duty multiplayer has always been the predominant part of the franchise. The multiplayer of this remake, even more so, promises to be rich and full-bodied, and can rightfully be considered the most ambitious implemented so far. In fact, the developers have thought of new features to be implemented immediately within the game, just to quickly increase the content offered to users.

In this sense, the developers have confirmed that since the launch all the maps of the original Modern Warfare 2 will be present in the game and therefore we will find the scenarios of Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Highrise, Invasion, Karachi, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland, all revised and modernized.

Still with regard to the maps, from day one we will be able to access four settings with new game spaces: the Battle Maps for the Ground War and Invasion modes, a War map that will be used for the return of the mode of the same name and, subsequently, will arrive also twelve 6vs6 maps. Finally, there is also the Carry Forward system that will allow all players in possession of Modern Warfare 2 to transfer their unlocked weapons and operators to the new chapter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 modes and mechanics

With one of the most extensive playlists ever in terms of the number of modes available, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's online component will be able to satisfy fans of the old guard (Hardpoint and Confirmed Kill, for example) without neglecting some fresh features (the 3vs3vs3 of Cutthroat), especially on the core maps. Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward, however, did not limit their attention to the content and will also be introducing a number of novel elements that will significantly differentiate the multiplayer experience of the next chapter from that of the previous ones. This need is met by a number of fresh “cancels” that can be used in the middle of an action.

For what concerns gameplay mechanics, we will be able to forego sliding and reloading the weapon in the event of sudden and unanticipated encounters, grab cover more quickly and while running, shoot right after a slide, and use the iron sight in the middle of a slide, as well as take advantage of higher movement speeds in many situations, which inevitably results in more dynamism for matches.

And that's not all—in order to maintain balance, the developers decided to bring back the traditional minimap, lengthen the time-to-kill, and increase the character's health by 1.5 times. They also decided to enable the activation of perks—including the brand-new one for silent movement—right from the beginning of each game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 new Zombie mode

Without a new Zombie mode, created in this case by Treyarch and set in the Modern Warfare universe, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 offers could not be said to be complete. This cooperative-based experience is distinguished by significant innovations compared to previous Zombie modes, especially in terms of its structure.

It will actually be an open world that will house the now-iconic combination of survival and extraction mechanics, along with everything that comes after in terms of variety and freedom of movement. Instead of restricting ourselves to a single team, we will actually be able to work with other teams and confront a terrifying scenario made up not just of the undead but also of some of the most well-known Call of Duty villains.
