Overwatch 2 Season 6 – How to Counter the Meta Heroes

Here’s how to counter some of the meta heroes of Overwatch 2 Season 6.

Overwatch 2 Season 6 presents an excellent opportunity for some people to reach the rank they’ve always wanted. Thanks to the many hero changes and the fact there’s a new hero, players can use all sorts of tactics to win. In fact, you can check some of our Overwatch 2 Season 6 ranking tips if you need more information.

Since it’s been a few weeks after Season 6 arrived, we have a clear idea of which heroes will be the hottest in the current meta. In fact, there’s already been a small hotfix, but it only addressed a couple of things, such as the new hero. While it’s true that Ilari was pretty dangerous, there are a few other heroes players need to be aware of, and we’ll take a look at them in this article.

Besides sharing some info about the heroes, we’ll also take a look at a few things you can do to counter them. Considering they’re the meta right now, you will see them a lot more often than the rest, so let’s see what to do.

Bastion

Despite the fact that Bastion was not a good option in any of Overwatch 2’s seasons so far, this is not the case when talking about Season 6 of Overwatch 2. The hero received another portion of massive buffs that have had a huge effect on its success rate.

Even though he received a lot of impressive buffs lately, the hero remains the same. This means that there are a few specific heroes that are extremely strong against him, such as Hanzo.

The latter has been one of Bastion’s biggest counters for years, and he continues to be very strong against him. Hanzo’s Storm Arrow ability allows him to easily burst through Bastion in seconds. Due to his large hitbox, landing your arrows is easy, allowing you to kill him much faster.

D.Va is the second-best option you can get when playing against Bastion. The hero’s ability to eliminate Bastion’s burst pretty much makes her incredibly effective in a variety of situations. However, players need to be careful when they do not have their defensive cooldowns up because Bastion can destroy the Mech in no time.

For supports, Ana is a pretty good option because of her sleep. When used right, the hero can remove Bastion’s burst from the game, which will make him a lot weaker t

Orisa

Orisa

Orisa was not the best hero in Season 5 of Overwatch 2, but things have changed. Nowadays, this is one of the go-to tanks in pretty much all skill brackets because of the buffs it received. The hero got way stronger than before and can work in many more situations.

With that said, Orisa remains relatively the same, which means that the hero has a lot of weaknesses that you can exploit. For example, one of the heroes that’s really strong against Orisa in Overwatch 2 Season 6 is Sigma.

In case you are not aware, Sigma is probably one of the best damage dealers out of any tank in the game. His ability to do damage and throw the deadly rock will force Orisa to use the Fortify sooner in a fight. Once this ability is off cooldown, Sigma’s team should be able to take down the raid boss.

Sigma should not get that close to Orisa because he needs to use his range. Moreover, there is no need to be over-aggressive because Orisa requires the cooldown to be effective, whereas Sigma has a shield. Of course, you need to be careful not to waste your shield for no reason because this is the thing that can save you.

In terms of DPS heroes that are good against Orisa, there are a couple of interesting options that come to mind. One is Sojourn, a hero that wasn’t that popular in S5 but is pretty big in Overwatch 2 Season 6.

The reason why Sojourn works well is because of her ability to get fast Railgun charges. Once that’s ready, she can use her gun to try and snipe the enemy’s backline. Doing this will weaken Orisa because there will be no one to heal the tank.

As for supports that can counter Orisa, a few names come to mind, but Ana is definitely the most successful option. Her grenade and sleep are extremely efficient against tanks like Orisa because they give her team enough time and damage to land a kill.

Illari

The last hero in Overwatch 2 season 6 that you need to know how to counteris Illari. Like most new heroes, she was incredibly dominant prior to the hotfixes from a few days ago. With that said, even the nerfs haven’t had the impact people expected because she continues to dominate in the current meta.

Speaking of nerfs, Illari’s Healing Pylon now deals 30 heals, and the shields are down to 50 from 75. Captive Sun’s projectile impact and explosion are now blocked by barries. The projectile size is down from 1.5 to 0.75m and Sunstruck.

Regardless of the nerfs, a few heroes were pretty strong against her, such as Genji. The latter is a good pick against almost anything, but he’s exceptionally strong against Illari because of his burst damage.

Lastly, we have Kiriko, the Overwatch 2 Season 6 support capable of countering pretty much everyone. Kiriko is a hero who’s really strong in a variety of matches, but she excels against the setups with Illari. Her ability to provide the team with damage and attack speed, as well as the damage output and the fact that she’s hard to kill make her an excellent pick.
