Fnatic vs Team Heretics Preview: LEC 2023 Summer Group Stage

Summer Playoffs resumes with Fnatic vs Team Heretics, and it's all thanks to compelling displays of adaptability and pure conviction from either side.

The set of roster changes that Fnatic started in Spring are finally bearing fruit as the legendary org seems dead set on taking home a silver trophy of their own. As it turns out, a well-calculated injection of Korean talent was all they needed to go past their limits this season. At the same time, the Heretics are making the most out of their latest roster change as well, eking out wins against teams like BDS and KOI. As a consequence, newly-minted synergies will be put to their hardest test come match day.

If you're betting on the LEC, this Fnatic vs Team Heretics preview is for you.

Fnatic vs Team Heretics Preview

Fnatic

Fnatic has seen tremendous improvements to their overall macro thanks to their latest transfers. Without a doubt, their previous bo3 victory was deserved after they laid it all on the line in an epic revenge match against SK Gaming.

Battles of attrition seem to be the name of the game for the LEC right now. Moreover, it's hard to consider Humanoid as the poster boy of the black-and-orange squad anymore when the newcomers are stealing so much of the spotlight (and rightfully so!). Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek's lightning-fast reactions during their last bo3 and Trymbi's brilliant playmaking have both raised Fnatic's power level to new and exciting heights.

Team Heretics

All bets are off this season as we watch one of the most underperforming teams from the past 2 splits climb the ranks. As we've seen from their last series, their base defense has significantly gotten better, albeit time-consuming. Thankfully, they have their jungler Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié's insane killing streaks and sizeable champ pools to get them out of tough spots, but with the next round of playoffs only a stone's throw away, the rest of the team will have to work on refining their firepower to beat those left standing.

Team Heretics vs Fnatic Predictions

As both teams have it in them to conquer this match, their weaknesses deserve to be examined. While they sport excellent ways to trade back from a deficit, Fnatic's macro still falters when it comes to contesting neutral objectives. Simultaneously, Team Heretics lose their tempo quickly after losing kill leads, and take a long time before they can equalize.
