Worlds 2023: The Strongest Teams From Every Region

Indomitable macroplay, genius plays and game-winning gambits make these international League rosters stand out as the strongest teams heading to Worlds 2023

Almost 9 whole months of high-energy pro play has culminated in the strongest teams from every region converging in Seoul where they'll take part in this year's World Championships.

After G2's incredible display of tenacity in the LEC's season finals, we finally have representative rosters for each of the 10 regions. Come October 10, these groups will be assigned in different bracket stages where they'll have to fight to the finish for a chance to hoist their own trophy. So while we patiently wait for these legends to arrive on the Rift, let's go down the list of qualified regions and take a look at the toughest teams to beat from each country.

The Strongest Teams From Every Region

League's hypercompetitive gameplay as well as its ever-changing landscape have all worked together for more than a decade to elevate the genre, helping esports become more than a sum of its parts. This list highlights the best-performing League of Legends esports players of 2023, using wins, talent and macroplay as the deciding criteria. And while we're all excited to see these rosters tear up Summoner's Rift, it's important to note that any team that isn't on this list has the potential to knock a team off of it.

Gen.G (LCK)

The reigning champs of two consecutive splits in the LCK, Generation Gaming has retained most of its players for multiple years, and even made the T1 gods bleed more than a few times. In their quest for domination, they've denied two straight splits from the unkillable demon king's team, cementing Gen,G as one of the strongest teams to watch out for in this year's World Championship.

JD Gaming (LPL)

JDG reigns supreme in a region where it's normal to see broken tier two towers before the 15-minute mark. And if another team manages to get past their lightning-fast reactions and brutal map control, you still have to deal with their ADC Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk. JDG's lucky charm has won in every major global LoL esports championship throughout his 7-year career, an accolade possessed by only one other player.

G2 Esports (LEC)

The Kings of Europe. With over 7 LEC split titles under their belt and only one nonattendance in Worlds since 2020, the Spanish org has never looked better, especially when they have Martin “Yike” Sundelin and Hans Sama's Draven playing strong side. At present, G2's consistent impact on the Rift cannot be understated, and giving the Caps-led team any sort of lead can prove fatal.

• Mid Laner: Rasmus “Caps” Winther
• Bot Laner: Steven “Hans Sama” Liv

Cloud9 (LCS)

Despite finishing second in their home region, this US-led org has gotten more shots at the international championship than any other team in the LCS, only losing their chance at Worlds when the stage moved to Shanghai in 2020. Looking at their recent matches, the blue-and-white team mostly faltered when it came to controlling big jungle camps and reclaiming gold leads. That said, they've also displayed unshakable confidence in their strong (albeit risky) playmaking, casting them as the best bet in the LCS for 2023.

• Jungler: Robert “Blaber” Huang
• Mid Laner: Jang “EMENES” Min-soo
• Bot Laner: Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol

PSG Talon (PCS)

The Pacific Championship Series frontrunners are undoubtedly the best challengers in their neck of the woods. Their form stands above the rest of the teams, and even landed them in the top 6 at MSI this year. All in all, their off-meta draft as well as their patience on the Rift makes them one of the strongest teams from every region to join Worlds 2023. Keep your eyes on their top-laner as well as their mid carry Wako!

GAM Esports (PCS)

Despite getting relatively bad results in this year's mid-season invitationals, the VN contenders have absolutely dominated their region, scoring back-to-back split titles in the VCS. Moreover, their ability to handle fights all across the map gives them solid control on the Rift. With over 4 months of prep, GAM should have made enough improvements to break into the top 10 in standings.

DetonatioN FocusMe (JP)

Japan's full-time pro-League team's dedication to form and smart plays makes them the strongest team in the country. After multiple consecutive split victories in the LJL, the famed contender is gearing up for another go at Worlds 2023. But while the org has yet to break through the top 15 placements for Worlds 2023, all bets are still off, especially after their newest addition to their roster.

LOUD (CBLOL)

There's a reason why the boisterous “FaZe clan of Brazil” made the Play-ins for Worlds 2023. Robo and co. are absolutely bloodthirsty on the Rift, finding every opportunity to force a teamfight. But although these skirmishes don't always end in their favor, they've had more than enough time to sharpen their playstyle. However, they've only shown middling results in their international tournaments so far this year, so they'll have to work twice as hard.

Movistar R7 (LLA)

Last on our list is the roster representing the LLA, who will make their first return to Play-ins since their last appearance at 2020. These hot-blooded challengers are no strangers to risk, often finding success while the whole team is under enemy turret. Needless to say, they prefer to strike as soon as they find any sort of opening.
