6 Useful Overpass Smokes in Counter-Strike 2

Here are 6 super Overpass smokes for its reworked version added in Counter-Strike 2

At long last, Valve, developers of Counter-Strike 2, have finally added the newly revamped Overpass to the game. With new visual improvements and changes, the map has players scouring for new utility line-ups. Since the maps have been reworked and altered, the old utility line-ups from CSGO won’t work anymore. Since a game of Counter-Strike depends on utility usage to a great extent, it is important to use such line-ups to effectively control the game.

Compared to all equipment used by the players in the game, smoke grenades are more vital than others. They are the most basic but vital tool in a game. From site takes to retakes, controlling the map to one-versus-one situations, good use of smoke grenades can change the outcome of a round. They can block the vision of the enemies and also force them to move in positions where they are vulnerable.

Therefore, it is crucial to know smoke line-ups to have some chance of winning games in Counter-Strike 2. As Overpass has been revamped and reworked, we will be sharing some of the most effective and new smoke line-ups for the map.

A-Site Terrorist Default Overpass Smokes Line-ups

One of the main reasons why hitting the A-Site on the Overpass is so difficult is because of all the angles present in the site. There are numerous places to hide and hold angles from and clearing all that without proper utility is near impossible. This gives the Counter Terrorist (CT) players a massive advantage. Even using smoke traditionally while being close to the site puts the players in vulnerable positions. So it is best to use long-range smoke line-ups from a distance.

This default execution for the Terrorist (T) Side allows the team to cover the basic positions of the CT-side players. With these smokes in play the entire CT team will have zero vision on the site and will be forced to respect the bomb plant. The execution consists of three line-ups. All of them are thrown from the toilet doors. A single player can throw these smokes in quick succession and initiate a good push towards the A-Site.

Immediate Effects

Once all three of the smokes are placed, crucial positions such as Security Van, Bank entry and Bins will be smoked off. This will cut off players deep within the site. Bank and Bins are common positions, especially AWPers, holding long angles. Adding on to that, anyone holding close will be trapped and untradeable. These smoke line-ups also form a safe position for planting the bomb. Even open plants can be safely executed as the vision for players outside the site will be close to none. The smokes give away zero information about the players attacking the site and hold off any sort of retake attempt until the bomb is down.

Available Options

  • Flash through SIgn and take out any player in front of Security Van.
  • Molly or Nade inside Bank and Bins.
  • Flash through Optimus and take out the player hiding.
  • Plant in default in front of Green Boxes.
  • Plant in Truck
  • Open Plant between Truck and Green Boxes.

B-Site Heaven Smoke (Squeaky to B-Heaven)

Heaven on B-Site is one of the strongest positions for the Counter-Terrorists to defend from. The high ground provides easy cover and allows ample opportunity to take out attacking players. It's a common position for AWPers to hold as well, so it is crucial to smoke that angle off before executing the site.

This line-up can smoke off this highly impactful position and force the players on site to fend for themselves. Without support from up top, anyone inside can be flushed out with Molotovs and Hand grenades. This will also force the CT player holding above to come face-to-face in a fairer contest. Bomb plant also becomes easier as no one can take down the planter.

Immediate Effects

This smoke blocks off any kind of support from B-Heaven. Even throwing utility, like flashes and grenades, is quite difficult from there as the player will have no vision on the site. This leaves the players on site to push out of cover for information. Thus they will be in the open and vulnerable to take out. Since the position of the throw is from outside of Squeaky Doors, the thrower can also pin the CT players with help from others advancing through Monster.

Available Options

  • Walk through Monster without resistance.
  • Push towards Barrels.
  • Push towards Default Plant Position.
  • Push towards Bridge.
  • Easy access towards Pit to throw mollies and nades.
  • Hold Angles at Graffiti Boost for rotators.

B-Site Short/Sandbags Smoke (Monster to Sandbags)

This is another important smoke for the T-Side to trap the players inside the B-Site. This position is common for CT players as it acts as an off-angle for players engaging in the site. Usually, most players look and clear the right side of Barrels and don’t look towards Sandbags. This smoke cancels the option for the defending Counter-Terrorists to rotate there and hold. In this situation, Sandbags also act as a possible entryway for players in Short to way through.

This can also act as an effective smoke for players retaking the site. Usually, CT players rotating from A-site come through either Short or CT. Smoking off Sandbags gives them the fake indication that the rotators may push through CT. Instead, the CT side can flash through the smoke and enter through short.

Immediate Effects

Players on site are forced to either fall back further inside the site and be prone to be killed using damage-inducing utility or push ahead and hold vulnerable positions. Regardless of their reaction, simple flashes and grenades are enough to help the Terrorists enter the site to wipe them out.

Available Options

  • Clear Barrels.
  • Clear Pit.
  • Clear Pillar
  • Plant Safely in Default.
  • Explode through Sandbags.
  • Hold angles towards Bridge.

B-Site Barrels Smoke (Outside Monster to Barrels)

Everyone knows that Barrels is a very sneaky position for the CT players to play in and with enough time can cause a lot of damage if not cleared. So it is vital to smoke off this position rendering the player hiding there useless and forced to fall back to Pit. This line-up can do that easily and from a very safe position.

Immediate Effects

The player holding in Barrels is forced out of position. Therefore the defenders will again be forced to either push and possibly be killed or fall back for the retake. Even players recovering in Pit will give away the stronger positions to the entry players and be at a major disadvantage.

Available Options

  • Advance towards default.
  • Clear out behind Pillar with utility.
  • Walk towards Bridge and clear out players falling back.
  • Plant in B-Site default.

With more reworked maps being added to CS2, the need for new utility line-ups grows ever more. We hope this article will help to perfect your smoke usage in Overpass and help you secure crucial wins.
