BlizzCon 2023 Announcement! Date, Location and more!

After four long years, BlizzCon 2023 is officially announced! We have the latest news regarding Blizzard's legendary convention!

With Diablo 4 being right around the corner and World of Warcraft going strong, some of us are probably asking what's next for Blizzard?

While the company's future is still in flux with the Activision Blizzard King acquisition still being up in the air, Blizzard's current and near future looks brighter than ever.

And we only need to wait a little longer to find out what's next in store for the California-based developer.

BlizzCon 2023 takes place In Person on November 3-4!

In the official announcement earlier today, Blizzard Entertainment announced that BlizzCon 2023 would take place on November 3rd and November 4th, 2023 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim California.

This marks the first time in 4 years that Blizzard would hold an in-person event for its fans.

The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 in the wake of the pandemic, the 2021 event was held virtually.

The 2022 event had been canceled after the allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment had come to light earlier that year. A new and hopefully reformed Blizzard is now riding a wave of goodwill.

World of Warcraft has been going strong in its recent Dragonflight expansion, Overwatch 2 celebrated an extremely successful launch into its free-to-play model, even if its highly anticipated PvE mode has recently been canceled.

And Diablo 4 is also set to launch on June 6, 2023. This will probably mark another heavy feather in Blizzard's cap if previews are to be believed. We'll also gonna cover the game as soon as it's released.

What to expect from BlizzCon 2023

While BlizzCon 2023 is no doubt going to be a celebration of everything Blizzard is making, we're all looking forward to what Blizzard is making next.

It's safe to say that we get to see some early sneak peeks at their long-running live service games. Hearthstone, Diablo Immortal, and Overwatch 2.

We can not say what the scope of those updates will be. But a new Hearthstone expansion pack and the long-term plans for Diablo Immortal and Overwatch 2 are, are the more reasonable guesses.

More interesting however will be what is in store for World of Warcraft. With players in high spirits after the successful launch of 10.2 we could be heading towards a 10.3 release not long before BlizzCon 2023 opens its doors.

This means, with the current schedule it is not unlikely for Blizzard to announce what their next expansion for their MMORPG will look like. By then we'll hopefully have more clues on what the future will look like.

The marketing material around Dragonflight strongly suggested that they are currently working on long-term plans and what World of Warcraft will look like in the next 10 years.

And we're all hoping that they can continue to ride on the success of Dragonflight and rise to even greater heights with their next expansion 11.0.

wrath of the lich king classic

But that's not all around their iconic MMORPG. With WoW Classic's Wrath of the Lich King slowly drawing to a close. We can also look forward to updates on the Classic Project.

A while ago Blizzard reached out to players and asked if they'd be interested in a potential classic version of the Cataclysm expansion. So we can probably expect some news on the state of that as well as the recently announced Classic Hardcore Servers.

Diablo 4 will also be released by then and after the usual amount of post-launch fixes and smart little content additions.

So by November, we'll probably see what DLC for Diablo 4 might look like and maybe a more detailed Roadmap of what players can expect from its post-launch support.

BlizzCon 2023 Announcement

Lately, there has also been news that Blizzard has been working on a brand new title as well. It is worked on under the codename “Odyseey” and could arrive as soon as 2024.

What exactly Odyseey looks like is still unknown but we have some vague idea of what'll be like. It's supposed to be a survival-type game that Blizzard has been working on for quite some time now.

Its key art implies that the game is some kind of Isekai (Japanese for “Transported to Another World”) where player characters enter a fantastical world.

But we can not say for certain if it's a survival game in the style of The Forest or multiplayer like Rust. It could very well be an open-ended single-player adventure, which would be the first time in a while that Blizzard focused on such a thing.

We'll of course have all the coverage on BlizzCon 2023 and beyond here on ESTNN
