FFXIV Free Trial Expands to Stormblood

The much beloved FFXIV Free Trial is getting a major expansion. Here is everything you need to know.

Guess we'll need to update the meme because Final Fantasy XIV's Free Trial was just expanded upon. You read right, the much memed FFXIV Free Trail will soon go up to level 70, including A Realm Reborn and both critically acclaimed Expansions Heavensward and Stormblood.

The FFXIV Free Trial Just Got Bigger

Still on the edge of trying Final Fantasy XIV? Square Enix's MMORPG just announced its newest expansion, Dawntrail which is set to release in the Summer of 2024, and an upcoming release for the Xbox Series X|S early next year.

And after its current expansion wrapped up the first big campaign, the game is getting ready to head into a new era. With a graphics updates and massive overhauls to many existing systems. So with will almost a year to go, why not try and dip your toes into the MMORPG?

The new and improved free trial, which will be made available later this year with the upcoming 6.5 patch now also includes Final Fantasy XIV's second expansion, Stormblood. Adding to the previous offer of just the base game, A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward expansion.

All You Need to Know about the Free Trial

The Free Trial of Final Fantasy XIV currently is up to level 60 and included all the content up until the end of Heavensward (Patch 3.57). Soon this Trial will also include the Stormblood Expansion, meaning new players can play the Main Scenario up to level 70 including all content up until Patch 4.57.

Which will set you back, depending on how fast you are, at least 100+ hours for the main scenario alone. You'll also be able to unlock the Dark Knight, Machinist, Astrologian, Red Mage, and Samurai Jobs as part of the free trial which has no restriction on playtime whatsoever.

There are only a few setbacks, namely that you won't be able to join a Free Company or InGame Community, can't own housing, and can't participate on the Market Board. Aside from that, you also won't be able to trade or create parties on your own.

Minor nuisances for sure, but they won't stop you from participating in Raid or other content. Again, considering that you can level multiple Jobs and a boatload of side activities can set you back for 200+ hours should you decide to do everything.
