Qualified Southeast Asian Teams for TI 12

Talon Esports: 

In the previous Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) season, Talon Esports from Southeast Asia (SEA) unexpectedly excelled. With a roster that included renowned players such as Kim “Gabbi” Santos and Damien “kpii” Sau-jing, and Tal “Fly” Aizik as captain, they entered the scene with high hopes. Despite early difficulties, they finished fifth in the Lower Division's first tour of the 2021/22 DPC. They reworked their roster and qualified for The International 2022 (TI11), becoming one of the top three SEA qualifiers.

As a new season approaches, Talon aims higher. They have welcomed Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, a major winner, and Chan “Oli” Chon Kien, who recently completed a successful stint in China. In an interview with AFK Gaming, the team's leadership and star player Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon revealed their goals. Contrary to common practice, Talon unveiled their new Dota 2 roster before the roster lock deadline. 

Do-hoon, Chief Gaming Officer, recruited Jabz and Oli due to their leadership prowess after recognizing leadership deficiencies from the previous season. Jabz, who previously played for Fnatic and Mineski, and Oli, whose vocal gameplay has been honed internationally, are regarded as indispensable assets. 23savage believes that their incorporation will mitigate the SEA's communication difficulties resulting from its solo-play culture, thereby positioning Talon for regional dominance.

Team SMG:

Team SMG qualified for The International 12 (TI12) by claiming victory in the Southeast Asia qualifier. The acquisition of Volodymyr “No[o]ne” Minenko, formerly of Virtus Pro and captained by Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, was pivotal to the team's success.

 MidOne, who was instrumental in recruiting No[o]ne, shifted from midlane to safelane after the entry of the new player. Given Nobody's lack of experience outside of Eastern Europe, this move was unexpected. Although SMG's path to The International 12 was hampered by subpar performances in the DPC SEA leagues and multiple roster changes, the addition of the Ukrainian major champion revitalized the team. 

Despite their victories over teams such as Execration and Geek Fam, MidOne emphasized the need for improved communication and expressed enthusiasm for future LAN competitions. SMG, with their renewed vigor, is now Southeast Asia's representative at TI12, alongside Talon.
