Fortnite has a lot of different skins, there are original characters, crossovers, basically as many skins as you could imagine. It’s possible to run up quite a bit with those V-Bucks if you’re not paying attention. If that’s the case, you’ll need to know how to refund Fortnite account purchases. Epic doesn’t make it too difficult to get a refund. However, there are some important limitations you’ll need to keep in mind.

It’s not like Fortnite sales are final. You can actually vet a refund pretty easily! Although, Epic doesn’t just hand them out constantly. There are limitations. You can’t just buy items, try them out, and refund them when you want a different Fortnite skin. Equally, if you’re frequently having to ask for Fortnite skin refunds, there’s a limit there too. It’s better to be aware of the rules for Fortnite refunds before you need them. Or you could end up wasting V-Bucks on something by mistake, and not have any recourse to get them back.

It doesn’t matter if you want to refund everything or just misclicked, there’s a method for how to refund Fortnite account purchases. We’ll cover how it works, what the limitations are, and when you can’t get Fortnite refunds.

Are there Fortnite Skin Refunds?

Epic do give Fortnite refunds! There’s an easy method for how to refund Fortnite accounts. If you play with an item but decide you don’t want it for some reason, you can always get your V-Bucks back!

This is convenient, especially in a game like Fortnite. If you like the look of a skin but decide it just doesn’t work in-game, you can get a refund. This can happen for a few reasons. Sometimes a Fortnite skin looks great, but in-game looks awful. If you’re using the best Fortnite settings, your model detail is often down and fun skins don’t look as good! Equally, it’s easy to misjudge a hitbox when you’re not in-game. Some skins look great but if they make you a walking target, that’s not so great.

There are plenty of reasons you might need to know how to refund Fortnite accounts. That’s without even saying the obvious, younger players using a parent’s credit card. There have been tons of those cases too. While we’re mainly going to be covering how to refund Fortnite account purchases that Epic has an official policy of, they have honoured larger requests when a misbehaving child is involved too. So even if a larger refund isn’t covered here, it never hurts to get in touch with Epic. If a younger player made all the purchases in a short period, larger amounts can be covered even with a single refund too.

In terms of the standard Fortnite skin refunds though, things are a bit easier.

What Can be Refunded?

Epic offers Fortnite refund tickets. Each account gets three, but not all items are eligible. They actually have quite a few rules on what’s eligible. These are the excluded items.

• Level Up Quest Packs – They give more content in-game than just the cosmetic so are tricky to refund even if you give up the item.
• Gifts – You spend no V-Bucks so don’t get these back. Be careful, there are no gift receipts here! It can make gifting V-Bucks a better idea than an item in-game.
• Purchases with Real Money – The bundles sold for cash rather than V-Bucks aren’t eligible.
• Battle Pass – Each season’s Battle Pass is unfortunately non-refundable.
• Battle Pass Tiers – Just like the battle Pass, brute forcing your way to the last tier isn’t something you can get a Fortnite refund on.
• Loot Lllamas – Only applicable to Save the World anyway.
• Fortnite Crew Subs

That’s what’s not included. Essentially, the system for how to refund Fortnite purchases only really applies to the normal shop. Situations where you’re trading in your V-Bucks to get specific items off the shelf. Fortnite refunds are easy for the normal purchases though.

Real Money purchases and other items are more a matter for whichever store you made the purchase through. That’s not part of the easiest method for how to refund Fortnite accounts. If that’s through the Epic Games Launcher, it’s not something they cover in their official refund policy. Other platforms do vary though. This is part of the reason purchases with cash like V-Bucks don’t always carry over from Fortnite PC or PS4 to Fortnite Switch. It’s just something to keep in mind with Fortnite skin refunds.

Limitations on Fortnite Refunds

Outside of those items, there are limitations on how to refund Fortnite accounts. You also have a limit on the number of refunds. Since Epic lets you refund an item that’s been used, they limit the numbers to discourage players from constantly using new skins and never actually picking anything permanently. You’re limited by the number of Refund Tickets you get.

Each account gets three refund tickets. You only get more once a year. You get one more refund ticket every 365 exactly. That’s it. If you use them all, you won’t get any refunds for a while afterwards.

One thing to keep in mind though is that there’s a way to refund more than three items. You can use each ticket for multiple items at once. This can make your tickets go a bit further, you’ll have to space them out though.

There’s also a timing limitation to how to refund Fortnite accounts. Purchases can be refunded within 30 days. You don’t get any longer than that. Fortnite refunds do work any time within those thirty days though. You don’t lose the ability to get your money back just because you played a game, which is at least something.

Those are all the limitations for Fortnite skin refunds though. For standard in-game purchases, it’s pretty helpful. Not so great for some areas of the game though. Not being able to refund the Battle Pass is seemingly down to the progression aspect being hard for Epic to instantly roll back too.

How to Refund Fortnite Account Purchases

Those are all of the limitations. The method for how to refund Fortnite account purchases is easy too. If you buy a skin and decide you’ve changed your mind, this is all you need to do.

• In Fortnite, open your main menu in the lobby.
• Click on settings.
• Then Support and Refunds, a few options below Parental Controls and Fortnite Crew.
• Click Return or Cancel Purchase
• Or, find the account and privacy tab on your settings, then return or cancel the purchase.
• You’ll then see a splash screen with an infographic showing your remaining Refund Tickets.
• You’ll also see a list of your newer purchases here too.
• Buy each purchase, there’s a date you have to refund it by but also a big button.
• Press the Use Return Ticket button
• You’ll move forward to a confirmation screen
• Confirm the items you’re returning (This is the final screen, so you can’t undo after this!
• You get the Splash screen telling you how many V-Bucks are getting put back

How to refund Fortnite account purchases is pretty simple, as long as you get to your purchases in-game and keep in mind the three-ticket rule. It’s not really a sustainable way to ty outfits then just get Fortnite skin refunds though. For that, you’d have to spend some time trying to get free v-bucks.

What happens When you Run Out of Refunds?

That’s how to refund Fortnite accounts but what happens once you’ve run out of tickets? In that case, you basically have nowhere to go. Epic’s policy is to only refund items with these tickets.

If you run out, you’ve got to wait 365 more days to get more back. It’s better than being stuck with the items permanently, but something to keep in mind. Especially when Epic’s bringing out tons of cool Fortnite skins at once. Mis-pressing a button in the store might not be something you can un-do with Fortnite skin refunds after a certain point.
