Insomniac Games has revealed all 19 characters set to appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is set to hit PS5 later this year

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to swing onto the PlayStation 5 in late 2023, boasting an impressive roster of iconic characters from the Spider-Man universe. With the remarkable success of 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man and its 2020 Miles Morales spin-off on the PS5, Insomniac Games wants to continue the web-slinger's saga in a truly grand fashion.

As the dust settles from Peter Parker's epic encounter with Dr. Octopus and Miles' electrifying showdown with Simon Kreiger, the saga evolves into a direct sequel, carrying on the legacy of the highly acclaimed games that came prior.

The comprehensive lineup of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 characters is a treat for fans, featuring familiar favorites alongside exciting new additions never before seen in Insomniac's rendition of the legendary web-slinger's journey. 19 characters in total will appear in the PS5 exclusive.

1. Peter Parker/ Spider-Man

Peter is back as the lead character of the game, this time embracing his role as a mentor to Miles Morales. The gameplay reveal by Insomniac showcased a major highlight of the game, centered around Peter's new black spidey suit, which is infused with the powerful Venom symbiote.

As the symbiote gives Spider-Man some extraordinary abilities, the narrative takes a darker path, portraying Peter's fierce battle against the darkness that lurks inside him.

2. Miles Morales/ Spider-Man

Building upon the success of his own game in 2020, Miles is ready to collaborate with Peter as the supporting protagonist, demonstrating his distinctive talents of camouflage and bioelectricity. Amidst Peter's struggle with the overpowering symbiote and Miles' young superhero aspirations, their bond faces challenges as Miles strives to enhance his skills and protect both New York and Peter.

3. Mary Jane Watson/ MJ

Peter's friend and love interest, Mary-Jane, or MJ, have faced their fair share of obstacles in their relationship. In her role as an investigative journalist for the Daily Bugle, MJ keeps a watchful eye on New York's events, assisting Peter with crucial information. Even though it has not been confirmed as of yet, she could return as a secondary playable character in the game.

4. Venom

While Venom is a well-known and iconic villain in Spider-Man's world, the version featured in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 keeps many of its details under wraps. Contrary to the portrayal in movies and comic books, the video game version of Venom has been confirmed to not be Eddie Brock. This revelation by Insomniac Games has led fans to speculate that Harry Osborn will take on the role of the villain in the series.

5. Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff/ Kraven the Hunter

Kraven, the infamous Russian big-game hunter, arrives in New York, relentlessly determined to capture and eliminate not just Spider-Man's usual rogues but also setting his sights on Peter Parker and Miles Morales themselves. Insomniac has been tight-lipped about the specifics, but Kraven features prominently as the major antagonist in the game's marketing campaign.

6. Maxwell Markham/ Grizzly

Maxwell Markham, aka Grizzly, is a crucial member of Kraven's team of hunters focused on tracking down people with extraordinary powers across New York City. Grizzly is not one of the best-known names in Spidey’s rogue gallery. This will be his first major appearance outside the comic book pages.

7. Harry Osborn

In the sequel, Harry Osborn, Peter's close friend, may become Venom. The first game revealed his terminal illness, prompting Norman Osborn's experiments for a cure. The latest trailer hints at a successful but costly cure, which could see him turn from Peter’s friend to his biggest enemy.

8. Norman Osborn

Norman Osborn temporarily stepped away from his duties to care for his son Harry Osborn after the events of the first game, but he has returned to serve as Mayor of New York once again.

9. J. Jonah Jameson

Get ready for the unforgettable return of J. Jonah Jameson, the legendary former Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief, celebrated for his fiery temper and humorous quips. Following a brief appearance in the Miles Morales games, he's back in action, leading a war against the superheroes he despises.

13. Curt Connors/ Lizard

In the Miles Morales game's climactic moments, the Lizard, Curt Connors, emerges and sets Harry Osborn free from captivity. Early footage teases an intense clash with Miles Morales and black-suited Peter Parker, leaving the Lizard's future role in the game shrouded in mystery.

14. Martin Li/ Mister Negative

Although Martin Li, the villainous Mister Negative, was defeated by Peter in the first game, his unexpected return is confirmed in a trailer for Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac. The extent of his involvement, however, is unclear.

15. Yuri Watanabe/ Wraith

You might recognize Wraith as Yuri Watanabe from the first game. As a former NYPD captain and a loyal ally of Spider-Man, she now embraces her new identity to stand for justice.

16. Felicia Hardy/ Black Cat

Felicia Hardy's role, though small in the main game, took a significant turn later on as she played a central part in three DLC stories that follow the fundamental plot of the first Spider-Man game. She’ll be back in Spider-Man 2, and this time, she might have a greater impact on the core narrative.

17. Taskmaster

Taskmaster made a dynamic debut in the first game, launching explosive challenges for Peter to overcome across NYC, ultimately landing in prison after an intense battle with Spider-Man. He is ready to cause more mayhem in the sequel.

18. Tombstone/ Lonnie Lincoln

Tombstone, the leader of a biker gang and a lesser villain, will be making a comeback after being incarcerated in Peter's first game, but further details are currently under wraps.

19. Shocker/ Herman Schultz

Confirmed to return in some capacity, Shocker, a member of the Sinister Six in the first game, will be making a reappearance.
