The top streamer on Twitch right now is none other than the Fortnite star, Richard “Ninja” Blevins. Before starting his full-time streaming journey with Fortnite, Ninja was a professional competitive esports player. He used to play Halo 3 for many teams, most recently Luminosity Gaming before he retired in 2018. He used to have a small number of viewers until he started playing Fortnite Battle Royale after its release.

It is believed that Ninja’s surge in popularity goes hand in hand or is tied with Fortnite Battle Royale, the game’s massive success. His popularity truly peaked from one particular live stream, which went down in history as one of the most epic streamer moments to exist.

It is a legendary live stream where Ninja played Fortnite with Drake, Travis Scoot and Juju Smith-Schuster as a squad. He also played duos with Drake, which is what viewers loved watching. They loved it because when Ninja and Drake were playing, it felt like they were two old friends catching up and playing some games together after a long hiatus.

The stream started with Drake and Ninja playing duos for a while before Travis and Juju joined for squad matches. There are a lot of terms that are popular in the streaming community, but one of the most popular ones is “subathon”. The credit for this goes to the American and French variety streamer and Youtuber, Ludwig Ahgren. He began his streaming career on Twitch in 2018 as a part-time career.

He started gaining popularity for his hilarious dialect and magnetic personality, which made him start full-time streaming in 2019. His career took a turn when he set the world record for Mario Party 4, the button-mashing game being faster than a speedrun bot. Yet what really made Ludwig the popular streamer that he is today is his subathon event from 2021, an epic streamer if there ever was one.

Ludwig started his subathon in March 2021 and it became very publicized. The subathon is a challenge where a streamer has to be live nonstop for as long as the viewers increase the time by subscribing to them. For Ludwig’s subathon, he started the stream with a promise of extending the stream time by 15 seconds with every new sub. The stream was very chaotic as viewers watched Ludwig do everything on stream.

The viewers almost made the stream end, taking it down to mere seconds, but they kept the stream running for a complete total of 31 days. Ludwig ended up having 283,066 subscribers at the end of the subathon event, breaking the previous record set by Ninja.

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is a Canadian Twitch streamer, Youtuber and content creator. He is a former professional competitive esports player who played the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) for teams such as Manajuma and compLexity Gaming. He also played the game Valorant as a professional competitive esports player for the esports team named Sentinels.

At present, Shroud has a surplus of 10M followers on his channel on Twitch, where he is affiliated as a Twitch Partner. This makes him the eighth most followed Twitch streamer on the whole platform. He is known to be streaming on his Twitch channel since 2011 but only began full-time streaming in 2017 as a content creator of the esports team, Cloud9. 

Being a former esports player, Shroud has insane gaming skills which have led him to be one of the top gamers. He is best known for his Player’sUnknown Battlegrounds gameplays, but he also plays other first-person shooter games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Owing to this, he has been a part of many tournaments including charity ones.

Back in the days when he was a Mixer streamer, one of the most memorable tournaments was the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl 2019, where he had an epic streamer moment. He went up against 5 people including streamers TimTheTatman and CourageJD. He destroyed three of them in mere seconds with just a pistol and made history as a clutch god.

Felix Lengyel, better known by his internet aliases, “xQcOW” or “xQc” is a Canadian content creator, former competitive esports player and full-time Twitch streamer. He was a professional competitive esports player playing the game Overwatch. Overwatch is a well-loved and renowned multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and distributed by Blizzard Entertainment. He started his esports career in 2016, where he initially played for the esports team named “Dallas Fuel” in 2017.

He started his streaming career in early 2014 at the age of 19 before starting his professional esports career. He is primarily a reaction or commentary streamer but he also plays video games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV) and Rocket League occasionally. 

xQc is one of the most followed and funny streamers because he speaks fast and has a hilariously sarcastic personality. Back in the days of 2021, his GTAV gameplays were fan favorites because of his involvement in the famous roleplay server, “NoPixel.” During his time on the server, he got banned five times in total and that was hilarious to his viewers. His last and permanent ban was given in April 2021 during a live stream.

This became an epic streamer moment because it happened in the most hilarious way possible. xQc was watching fellow roleplayer Kyle’s stream when he looked at his own game’s check-in queue to see the perma-ban notification, which had viewers rolling on the floor laughing.

Miyoung Kim, better known by her internet aliases, “kkatamina” or “mina” is an Asian and American content creator, Twitch streamer and social media influencer. She started her streaming career in May 2020. She has quickly become the fastest-growing female streamer on Twitch’s platform after Pokimane, another fellow female streamer. She currently has 586K followers on her Twitch channel.

She is best known for being affiliated or friends with Disguised Toast and AriaSaki, who are members of the social entertainment group of content creators named “OfflineTV.” She was introduced to the group by AriaSaki as a friend and from there, she became closely knitted with them and is good friends with the whole group including Sykunno, Valkyrie and TinaKitten amongst others. 

Her mainstream journey started from there, as viewers started to notice her and enjoy her funny content. She is mainly known for doing interactive live streams where she chats with her fans, but she also does let’s-play live streams playing video games such as Minecraft, Valorant and TeamFight Tactics on live stream. What truly propelled her into mainstream media was her subathon event held in November 2021.

She hosted this event in celebration of her first streamer anniversary on Twitch’s platform. The subathon was 14 days long and she started gaining subscribers rapidly. The subscribers count was capped at 73,623 which made her the most subscribed female streamer of all time and created an epic streamer moment for her.
