Dota 2 TI 12 Qualifiers Recap – WEU, EEU and NA

Here’s an overview of the Dota 2 TI 12 qualifiers and everything that took place in WEU, EEU, and North America.

Although there are a few smaller events ahead of us, most Dota 2 fans worldwide are more interested in Dota 2’s biggest tournament of the year. The International 12 will begin around a month and a half from now, and it will include the world’s best players. We’ve already covered some of them, such as the hard supports, but since TI12 qualifiers are still on, we do not know the names of every team.

With that said, the Dota 2 TI 12 qualifiers in all regions are over, which means we know the names of the last participants. In case you forgot, TI12 will have 20 teams, but only 12 of them received an invitation, thanks to the DPC points. The rest had to earn their spot, so let’s dive in and learn more details about what happened. This article will focus on three regions – Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and North America.

Eastern Europe

Let’s face it, the Eastern European Dota 2 TI12 qualifiers were not as interesting as some people thought. Since the best teams from the region secured enough DPC points, the battle here was not as fierce as some people thought. Sure, there were a few interesting games, but in the end, Virtus.Pro was victorious.

The young squad started with an easy victory against Matreshka, followed by a very hard match versus Na’Vi. The latter surprised their opponents, but it was not enough to win the series because they only got 1 game.

After defeating their arch-nemesis, VP had a match against One Movel. These two met a few times before, and the matches were pretty interesting, so a lot of people thought OM got this. However, the squad wasn’t able to overcome VP and lost the match, which meant it had to play against Na’VI in the LB Final.

Surprisingly, One Move defeated the Ukrainian powerhouse, which meant it was time for a rematch. The bad news for One Move was that Virtus.Pro was extremely motivated to win and gave their opponents no chances in the Dota 2 TI12 qualifiers. The series ended 3-0 in favor of VP, which will be the last team from EEU at The International 12.

After the victory, VP will join the likes of Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, and 9Pandas. EEU definitely has the chance to lift the trophy for the second time because it has all of its best teams at this event.

Western Europe

While it’s true that all of the big names in WEU are already at The International 12 because they have enough DPC points, there are some exceptions.

The first squad that we will see in Seattle a few months from now is Entity. The latter has had pretty bad results throughout the 2023 DPC, so most people did not expect it to be here. However, the team ripped through its competitors and deserved to be one of the teams at TI12.

Entity’s first and second matches were really difficult because the team had to defeat Nigma Galaxy and Team Secrets. Both clashes weren’t easy, but against all odds, Stormstormer and his allies came on top and reached the UB Final. What was even more surprising is that the team had to play against Luna Galaxy, the team that somehow defeated Quest Esports.

In an epic Grand Final where we saw two amazing games, Entity won the match and secured one of the TI12 slots. However, this wasn’t the end of the Dota 2 TI12 Western Europe qualifiers because one more slot had to be determined.

The final TI 12 slot went for Quest Esports, the team that was one of the favorites from the beginning. Even though things didn’t work as planned for the newly-formed squad, QE defeated a lot of the big names in WEU and deserved their slot.

The team had to play in the Lower Bracket, where it went through OG and Team Secret. The LB final was against Luna Galaxy, one of the sensations at the TI 12 qualifiers, but Quest Esports was way more motivated to win and snatched the victory.

North America

The last region that we’re going to take a look at in this Dota 2 TI 12 qualifiers recap is North America. By far the least exciting region to watch when compared to the rest, NA surprised us with a few very interesting matches. However, there were no surprises because nouns dominated over the rest and secured the final TI slot.

While talking about this team, nouns did not have the smoothest start. They started with a questionable win against Ssand King Gomzes, followed by another hard match versus Wildcard Gaming. In fact, many people thought that WC would win, but nouns’ experience and determination helped it survive.

After the first two matches, nouns played versus Team DogChamp, and after winning, it had the chance to go up against B8. Speaking of the devil, Dendi’s team was impressed with its results. Despite losing in the first round of the UB, the squad eliminated 5 teams in a row, securing itself the chance to play at the Grand Final against nouns.

The bad news for Dendi’s team was that it was no match against nouns. Moo and the rest simply outplayed their opponents in the first two games. The last one was close because of B8’s pick, but it was not enough for the team to win, so it will miss another big tournament.

Conclusion

Now that we know the names of all the teams that will take part at The International 12, we can’t wait to see what’s going to happen. Valve released a small update yesterday, but it will be intriguing to see if we’ll see a new big patch prior to the event.
